This little gal loves all the joys and demands of her high-pressure public job, her cute apartment, kitty, deck, pool, bookshelves and art studio to retreat to. Ahhh, take off your shoes.
I’ve been around the world, and had adventures no woman of meager means should ever have had. I’ve thrown rocks into the North Sea, sailed across the Gulf Stream, sang with dolphins in the Bahamas, flirted with a gladiator, touched moss on a Scottish castle wall and briefly felt 1000 years of life inside, listened to an Umbrian thunderstorm over Lake Trasimeno, walked a dusty Mexican road with chickens scattering my footsteps, mudded my toes in the great rivers- Amazon, Seine, Arno, Rhone, Firth of Forth, endured tapir pee on my knee, motored on the Mediterranean with a Kuwaiti billionaire, only to learn what Dorothy knew all along: there’s no place like home.
Except in the winter. Then Northern New England sucks.
I love to laugh, which means if you are funny I’ll forgive practically anything. I love smart people, which means if you’re funny and smart I’ll probably half fall in love with you.
This is a window into me-myself-I, though unlike Rachel Griffiths in that self same wonderful movie, I never had to wonder if I made the right choices because I have pretty much done what I wanted all my 44 years. And now I started a blog. Hmmm, what next?
